The State of Indiana was one of America's most productive regions committed to automotive commerce, ranging from the inception of hundreds of marques, to the widespread proliferation of manufacturers of auto components. Indiana ranks sixth among states in total number of individual makes produced in the country. Displayed in this gallery is an enviable collection of rare and unusual automobiles built in the Hoosier state, including Lexington, Marmon, Cole, Haynes, Studebaker, Black and Apperson, among others.

A few automobiles featured in this gallery include:

1920 Apperson Model 8-20 - This automobile belonged to Edgar Apperson, one of the Apperson brothers who owned the Apperson Automobile Company, Kokomo. Edgar used this car to install and test various features that the company was considering to include in future lines.

1932 Studebaker President Eight - This is one of the most desireable Studebakers in terms of body styles. This Studebaker is rare. It is 1 of 9 examples known to exist.

Circa-1894 Black Prototype - This automobile was produced sometime between 1891 and 1894 in Indianapolis and is one of the earliest automobiles produced in Indiana.
