Description:
The 1931 Auburn 8–98 featured an X–member frame, which was patented by Auburn Automobile Company engineer C. W. Van Ranst. The X–member frame improved upon the rigidity of the more commonly used ladder frame and allowed for a lower seated body and a smoother riding suspension.
