Description:
The Auburn Automobile Company had strong ties with Chicago over the course of its history. In the 1920s, E. L. Cord was hired by a group of investors from Chicago and moved from the city when he took over management of the Auburn Automobile Company in Auburn, Indiana. By 1931, his holding company Cord Corporation (of which the Auburn Automobile Company was a subsidiary) was headquarted in Chicago as well.
